How do I connect my domain to Microsoft Office 365?

To connect your domain to Microsoft 365 email, please follow steps below:
Step 1. Add your domain to Microsoft 365
- Sign in to your Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- In the Microsoft 365 admin center, you can start the process of adding a custom domain to Microsoft 365 in two different ways:
- First time adding a custom domain to Microsoft 365:
- From the left navigation bar, select … Show all > Setup > Sign-in and security > Get your custom domain set up > Get Started
- Add a custom domain, add extra custom domains, or continue setting up a domain:
- From the left navigation bar, select … Show all > Settings > Domains > select + Add domain
- First time adding a custom domain to Microsoft 365:
- In the Domain name textbox of the Add a domain page, enter the new domain name that you want to add, and then select Use this domain.
Step 2. Verify your domain
- In the Verify you own your domain page within the Microsoft 365 admin center, select adding TXT or MX record to verify domain ownership.
- After you select an option (TXT or MX), select Continue.
- The Add a record to verify ownership page will show instructions on what DNS records to add at Dynadot to verify domain ownership.
- Sign in to your Dynadot account and add TXT or MX record on DNS setting page for domain verification. Please be aware that it might take some time for your DNS changes to propagate.
- Once you complete the DNS setting, select Verify within Microsoft 365 admin center. Domain ownership verification occurs.
Step 3. Configure DNS records for Microsoft 365 email
- Once domain ownership verification completes, the How do you want to connect your domain appears. Select Continue.
- The Add DNS records page contains instructions on what DNS records you need to add at Dynadot.
- Sign in to your Dynadot account and add required DNS records to your domain. Please allow some time for the domain propagation.
- Once you add the DNS records at Dynadot, switch back to the Microsoft 365 admin center, and then select Continue.
- The Domain setup is complete page displays. Select Done to complete adding your custom domain and DNS records to Microsoft 365.
Note:
- If your domain is using a third party's name servers, you will need to contact your hosting provider to connect your domain to Microsoft Office 365.
- Please ensure that mailboxes have already been created in Microsoft 365 before adding MX records to your domain with Dynadot. Updating MX records before mailboxes are ready may result in email delivery interruptions.
- Domain propagation can take anywhere from 5 mins to 48 hours.
