SSL/TLS Certificate Validity Period Update
Updated: 2026/03/26Viewed times: 30292
Purchasing an SSL certificate for more than 1 year is no longer possible. Due to changes in Apple, Mozilla and Google Root Store Policies, as of September 1, 2020, newly issued SSL/TLS certificates with a validity period greater than 13 months (397 days) are prohibited by policy and will not be trusted. Therefore, Dynadot is no longer selling certificates with a duration greater than 1 year. This is all in an effort for security. The shorter the lifespan for SSL certificates, the quicker any new security updates can be made.
Effective March 15, 2026, due to new CA/B Forum Baseline Requirements, SSL/TLS Certificate orders for a term of 1-Year are eligible for two 199-day certificates, providing up to 398 days of total potential coverage.
- Certificate 1: 199 days validity (billed at the 1‑year price).
- Certificate 2: 199 days validity, free renewal of the first certificate.
