The .PT registry requires additional registrant information before a .PT domain can be registered. When setting up a contact for .PT, you must provide one of the following:
The registrant's identity number. Examples include:
VAT number
Citizen Card number
A verified contact handle already registered with the .PT registry.
If you previously registered a .PT domain using a Fiscal Code, the registry has already associated that code with a unique contact handle. In this case, you must use that existing contact handle to register additional .PT domains.
If you enter an external contact handle, the registry will automatically associate it with the Dynadot contact you selected.
Identity Number Rules
The VAT/identity number is required by the .PT registry and serves as the registrant's taxpayer or personal identifier.
If the contact's country is Portugal, the registry performs validation checks on the number.
The identity number may also determine whether the registrant is classified as a:
Natural Person, or
Legal Entity
If the registrant is a legal entity:
The Organization field must be filled in.
If left blank, the registry will automatically classify the contact as a natural person.
To set your .PT registrant settings, please follow these steps:
Select "TLD Settings" from the "My Domains" drop-down menu.
Click on the "PT Settings".
Choose your contact and enter the appropriate information.
Select your Registry WHOIS Privacy option.
Click "Submit" to save your changes.
IMPORTANT:
Once a contact has been saved at the registry with a VAT/identity number (i.e. once it has bene used for a .PT domain), this value cannot be changed.
If you need to register .PT domains using a different taxpayer number, you must create a new contact record.
.PT Registry requires all registrants to complete a request for documentary evidence. This request is sent to the registrant's email address. If the request is not completed or the info is not approved, then the registry will delete the domain. Dynadot has no control over this verification process or the registry's decision.
.PT domains can only be registered or renewed for 1, 3, or 5 years at a time. The total registration period for a domain cannot exceed 10 years.
