The Domain Transfer Process: Transferring Your Domain to Dynadot

You should also begin the process at least two weeks before the domain’s expiration date. Although a transfer may continue if the domain expires after it has been initiated, completing the process close to expiration can create unnecessary delays.
Unlock the Domain and Get Its Authorization Code
Sign in to your current registrar, unlock the domain, and obtain its authorization code. This code may also be called an EPP code, AuthInfo code, or transfer code. It helps verify that you are authorized to move the domain.
The exact steps for unlocking a domain and retrieving its authorization code vary by registrar. You should also make sure the contact information associated with the domain is accurate and that you can access the relevant email account.
Submit Your Transfer to Dynadot
Once the domain is unlocked and you have the authorization code, visit Dynadot’s domain transfer page. Enter the domain and its corresponding authorization code, add the transfer to your cart, and complete checkout. You can also use Dynadot’s bulk transfer option when moving multiple domains.

After submitting the order, Dynadot will send an order confirmation to the email address associated with your Dynadot account. You may also receive an email from your current registrar asking you to approve or confirm the transfer. Responding promptly can help prevent delays.
What Happens During the Transfer?
Once the transfer has been authorized and released by your current registrar, the registry will move the domain to Dynadot. You will receive confirmation when the transfer is initiated and another notification when it is complete.
A registrar transfer normally does not change your domain’s nameservers, so a website or email service hosted by a third party should continue working. However, services provided directly by your previous registrar may be affected after the transfer, so confirm your hosting and email arrangements before moving the domain.
Most completed transfers add one year to the domain’s registration term, although some extensions follow different rules (visit this page to find out more). Certain domain extensions, including .UK, may also use a different transfer process.
